The Salmon Journey is a bilingual arts and environmental education project — an original song, twelve hand-painted illustrations, and an animated film, all centered on the story of the Chinook salmon’s journey up the Yuba River.
For museums, the Salmon Journey can be brought to life as a public program or family event — adaptable to your space, your audience, and your programming calendar. Every program includes a display of the original illustrations for the day of the event.
The program can be presented as an intergenerational experience — including adults and children together — or tailored to your audience. For the full details of how it flows, visit our Workshop page.
Up to 60 attendees. An evening or weekend public program — the story of the salmon, the bilingual song, and a family-friendly collage activity, with the original illustrations on display throughout the event. Well suited to a members’ event, opening reception, or family day.
Bay Area & South Lake Tahoe — Interested in bringing the Salmon Journey to your institution? These locations are a bit further, so we’re happy to plan something customized based on distance and timing — including the possibility of grouping multiple programs into one trip. Reach out and let's talk.
Add-on — beyond the event day. Interested in keeping the illustrations on display longer? The twelve original Salmon Journey pieces are available for extended loan (a week or two, or by arrangement) — a wonderful way to bring more visitors to the work beyond a single program date. If budget is a barrier for your institution this year, let’s talk — we have some flexibility to help make this work.
